Hey followers!
So I am giving this whole 3D realism another go but this time with a good friend of mine. His name is Andrew. This is very much a work in progress but because I havnt posted here in so long I thought I would show you where I am at.
Hope I am getting there. The eyes really make him look dead so hopfully when I put some in today it will give him a bit more life :)
hey! your work is great! what software do you use to create these?
Hey thanks, love your blog too!
I use Autodesk Maya and Zbrush predominantly, I also use Photoshop for things like textures and stuff.
Hope this answered your question, more to come soon!!

HI, my name is Cki Vang, I wrote to you cause I want to remove the image of prototypus on your website, Can you remove at soon as possible, please?
There you go, it has been removed. Just one question though, why would you want it removed? It is obviously popular and will get your work out there for future jobs, I guess unless you already have the job you want…

My latest sculpt. Trooper bust.
It started in ZBrush as a dynamesh ball.
Got it to a 60% state, then retopologised it.
Then finished the high res sculpting.
Textured it.
Applied the texture maps to the low res mesh in Maya.
Tehn comes lighting and rendering.
Then it is composited in Maya.

Here is a character I made about a week ago. Hi name is Oak. His character is much like optimus prime, very wise and strong and will kick ass wheneveer he needs to. He is pretty much production ready, the detail has been textured on using diffuse, normal and displacment maps. I also have a staff for him which is still coming and I am going to make a platform for him to stand on. He is kind of like the forest ranger. Making sure no one steas the precious materials from the trees.
Hope you like him :)

Spent the last few hours attempting some realistic lighting on my new skull model. Not sure how well I did, but I pretty much achived what I wanted. Maybe I should have thrown a dirty layer over the top of everything to hide the sharpness of the CG render. Ah well.
edit* I applied some film grain stuff, I think it looks better now.
Here is a time lapse video of me sculpting the creature in zbrush. It took me about 2 hours to complete.
